The Center for Higher and Adult Education at MSU ranks 2nd among all higher education graduate programs in the country and has one of the largest full-time faculty contingents with fifteen nationally and internationally recognized scholars.

The 2016 edition of U.S. News & World Report Best Graduate Schools ranks the Center's higher education administration graduate program as No. 2 among its peers and ranks the College of Education as No. 15 overall in the nation. 

The Higher, Adult, and Lifelong Education (HALE) Ph.D. program is designed to prepare individuals for leadership positions in postsecondary educational organizations, including community colleges, four-year colleges and universities, and public agencies.  The doctoral program enables students to examine perspectives on postsecondary educational organizations, changing notions of postsecondary teaching and learning, and the roles of students, teachers, researchers, and administrators.  The HALE doctoral program attracts students from across the country and around the world.  

Center faculty understand that research, teaching, and outreach are the backbone of the academic endeavor.  The Center prides itself on recruiting and retaining a cadre of world-class faculty as research specialists in areas relating to higher education.  Center faculty generate their own research in concert with the pool of research generated by researchers from around the world.   To learn more about faculty research, read the Center for Higher and Adult Education report published each semester.
