“Speaking Truth and Acting with Integrity: Navigating a Campus Racial Crisis”: Report Release and Discussion
Join HALE faculty to view the livestream of the release of the report “Speaking Truth and Acting with Integrity: Navigating a Campus Racial Crisis” which examines how the University of Missouri responded to the 2015 racial crisis on its campus.
As campuses across the country experience a resurgence of racist and hateful incidents, a forthcoming report from the American Council on Education (ACE) explores how the University of Missouri responded to the 2015 crisis on its campus and offers recommendations for other university leaders who strive to create and maintain a positive racial climate before, during, and after a crisis.
“Speaking Truth and Acting with Integrity: Confronting Challenges of Campus Racial Climate,” co-authored by Adrianna Kezar of the University of Southern California, and Sharon Fries-Britt of the University of Maryland, offers useful frameworks for building campuses’ capacity to address diversity and inclusion, as well as to work through the emotional healing often required after a racial incident or crisis.
Immediately following the release, a panel of HALE faculty will serve as local discussants, facilitating a conversation on lessons learned for the field of higher education. Participants will receive actionable resources based on the report's findings, to help implement these lessons on their own campuses.
