The conversation about the value of higher education is ongoing. What is the value added of a college education to society. One of the things we know is that higher education provides an opportunity for students to experience a world different than the one they knew when they entered. Diversity and inclusion are at the core of this learning. Thus, those of us who are charged with educating students must first do our own work to prepare for engaging diversity and intersectionality. If we are to prepare the next generation of leaders, the work starts with us.
Rev. Dr. Jamie Washington, President and Founder of the Washington Consulting Group, has served as an educator, administrator, and consultant in higher education for over 32 years. He is the President and a Founder of the Social Justice Training Institute.
Dr. Washington earned his B.S. degree from Slippery Rock State College and a double Master of Science degree from Indiana University/Bloomington.
