Assistant Professor

Kenya LeNoir Messer is an assistant professor of Higher, Adult, and Lifelong Education. She is a published author, researcher and national presenter on student success, access and retention; organizational leadership, strategy and change management; and African American male student-athletes in college.

A higher education practitioner and committed student advocate, more recently, she served as the president & CEO of the Louisiana Association of Independent Colleges and Universities. Prior roles also include executive leadership at Columbia University, Wilberforce University, University of Pennsylvania and Louisiana State University.

Messer is fellow of the American Academic Leadership Institute and a trustee of Union College, NY.

Her other research interests include examining issues of equity and inclusion in higher education and strengthening pathways for access and levels of participation of American students in international education.
